When we read the book of Numbers 13, we see how fear hindered the Israelites from entering into their promised land. Moses received a command from God to send out men to spy out the land of Canaan which God gave to them. He sent leaders from each tribe of Israel. Caleb and Joshua brought a good report while the other Israelite leaders brought an evil report.
The other Israelite leaders feared those who occupied it. They saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to them. They forgot about their great God who was with them in the wilderness and who gave them victory. When we take our focus away from God, we tend to magnify our problems than our God. This was what the other Israelites did as they perceived the occupants of Canaan being strong than them and as a result, they died in the wilderness and failed to enter their promised land.
In contrast, Caleb who was of a different spirit was bold. He wanted the Israelites to go immediately and overcome and occupy the land (Numbers 13:10). Caleb knew that the God who was them in the wilderness will bring them into the promised land. This led to Caleb entering into the promised land.
In this scripture, it was highlighted to me that many are being hindered from advancing into their promised land because of fear. I would like to encourage you, be bold and take the next critical step that the Lord is leading you to take so as to inherit the promises that the Lord has for you. The promise can only be possessed by taking the next step, as the promise is in the step. God required the Israelites to take the step of entering Canaan so that they could possess the promise that was found in Canaan.
